Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula, on Monday announced that Namibia had recorded 726 new Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 65 815.
The cases were identified from 1 594 results received from laboratories in the last 24 hours and had a gender distribution of 302 males and 424 females between the ages of 28 days and 84 years old.
Shangula, in the daily COVID-19 update, said the country also recorded 13 deaths from the Windhoek, Swakopmund, Rundu, Rehoboth and Walvis Bay districts, bringing the total number of deaths to 1 008.
Of the cases announced on Monday, Khomas recorded the highest number at 281, followed by Hardap with 140, Erongo 138 and Otjozondjupa with 33.
Kunene recorded 26 cases, while Oshana recorded 19 cases, Oshikoto 18, Ohangwena 17, Kavango East 16, Omusati 13 and ||Kharas as well as Zambezi recorded 11 cases each, while Omaheke recorded three cases.
A total of 652 new recoveries were also recorded, bringing the total recoveries in the country to 55 187.
Active cases on Monday stood at 9 609 with 377 hospitalised cases, of which 72 were in intensive care units and 25 in high care.
Cumulatively, 88 649 COVID-19 vaccine first doses and 14 956 second COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered by Monday.
