Pirates, Magic win as Tigers is held

Orlando Pirates and Tura Magic registered morale-boosting victories at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Saturday following a run of poor results in the Namibia Premier League.

Pirates beat Chief Santos 3-1 in the first match of the triple header, which was followed by an exciting goalless draw between defending champions, Tigers, and Blue Waters.

Tura Magic finished the day on a high after beating a spirited Eleven Arrows 2-0.



Debmarine Namibia Cup Round of 32 fixtures drawn

The draw for the Debmarine Namibia Cup Round of 32 on Thursday pitted some "smaller" teams against elite teams.

The competition that is run by the Namibia Football Association (NFA) started with elimination round matches in February before moving to Round 32 in March.

The much-anticipated draw for one of Namibia?s most lucrative cup competitions took place in Windhoek, with the competition scheduled to be played in Tsumeb, Windhoek, Mariental, Walvis Bay and Gobabis on 24 and 25 March 2018.



Otjozondjupa amateur boxers training hard for regional trials

Under-20 amateur boxers in the Otjozondjupa Region are training hard to prepare for their regional trials taking place at Otjiwarongo later this month.

Chairperson of the Otjozondjupa Regional Boxing Federation, Onesmus Kalipi said in an interview with Nampa on Tuesday 35 boxers, four from Otavi, 10 from Okahandja, six from Okakarara and 15 from Otjiwarongo - are expected to compete in the trials on 21 and 22 March.

"The trials will select the 10 best amateur boxers to compete at national level in Windhoek from 12 to 16 May," said Kalipi.



Black Africa to put pressure on African Stars: Richter

Black Africa Football Club coach Lucky Richter said there is still hope that his side can clinch an 11th Namibia Premier League (NPL) title in the 2017/18 season.

Richter said this Tuesday night after his team's 2-1 win against UNAM at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

The coach told Nampa that if they focus on their course, nothing will stop them from becoming champions again.

"As a team, our objective is to focus on our course which is winning our games. The bigger picture will sort itself out," said Richter.



Stars consolidate NPL lead

African Stars Football Club consolidated their lead atop the Namibia Premier League log with consecutive 2-0 wins over Rundu Chiefs and Mighty Gunners over the weekend at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

The wins saw Stars collect maximum points to move to 47 points on the log, opening up a 10-point lead over Black Africa, who are in second position with a game in hand.

Stars started the game brightly, being the aggressors against a Gunners team that was still beaming from their 2-1 victory over Civics on Saturday.
