//Kharas Coastal Stream Second Division football league starting in March

The //Kharas Second Division Coastal Stream will start its 2018 league next month, with the first four rounds scheduled to be played at Rosh Pinah, Oranjemund and Luderitz.

The Coastal and Inland Streams both have 10 teams for the new season.
Round one and two will be played on 10 and 11 March, with Rush Ups Football Club (FC) and Men United scheduled to open proceedings on the Saturday.

In probably the game of the round, Youngsters FC will face Atlantic Stars, while Novanam FC will face rookies Touch & Go FC.



Our aim is the top four: Jacobs

Tigers Football Club head coach Woody Jacobs says his team's aim is to finish in the top four at the end of the 2017/18 Namibia Premier League (NPL) season.

He said this on Sunday night after his team beat Black Africa 2-1 to end the weekend on a high after collecting six points from their two fixtures. Their first win of the weekend was a 1-0 win against Young Africa.

The NPL defending champions who are now on 24 points after a disastrous first leg where they only won three games from 13 played, are currently nine points away from a top four spot on the log standing.



Black Africa moves to second place on NPL log standing

Black Africa Football Club moved within four points of log leader African Stars after they sunk Tura Magic 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Sam Nujoma Stadium here.

With their win the Katutura giants are now on 34 points while African Stars are top of the log on 38 points from 18 matches played thus far.

With the defeat, Tura Magic drop to third place on the log with 33 points while Young African moved a place down to fourth on 32 points.



Stars, Pirates settle for goalless draw

African Stars Football Club (FC) and Orlando Pirates FC settled for a goalless draw in the first match of the second round of the 2017/2018 Namibia Premier League (NPL) played at Sam Nujoma Stadium on Thursday evening.

Both teams started the game lively, creating several half chances which their strikers failed to convert.

Pirates lost their recent signing from Stellenbosch, South Africa, Tederius Uiseb in the first 15 minutes of the game to an injury.



NBF Northern Committee forms schools league

The Namibia Basketball Federation (NBF) Northern Committee is determined to popularise basketball in high and primary schools in the Oshana Region where it formed a school league last year.

Speaking to Nampa on Wednesday, a member of the committee, Kilian Stahlhut said only four primary school basketball teams from within Ongwediva joined the league last year.

"The number of primary school teams has increased to eight this year, and we have at the same time added the high school league for the first time this year," Stahlhut said.
