Otjinene and Epukiro win federation tournament


Otjinene and Epukiro won the netball and football categories respectively during the Namibia Rural Sports Development Federation (NRSDF) All-Stars tournament that ended in the capital on Sunday.

In the first netball semi-final, the ladies from Otjinene defeated their Aminius counterparts by 29-19.

In the second semi-final, Ovitoto played Epukiro and the match ended 36-26 in favour of Epukiro.

Botswana beat Zimbabwe in third match of Pent Series


Botswana's senior national netball team won their first game of the 2018 edition of the Debmarine Namibia Pent Series after beating Zimbabwe 43-41 in their clash on Monday.

The defeat for Zimbabwe was their first at the competition, which was initiated in 2017. Zimbabwe became the first winners of the series in its maiden season.

On Monday, Botswana came from behind to beat their opponents who led the game in the second quarter.

Omaheke Top 8 tourney slated for July


The Epukiro Sports Council will host the Omaheke Top 8 football and netball tourney on 07 July 2018 at Legare Stadium in Gobabis.

The tournament is played by teams from Omaheke's constituencies that reached the quarter finals of their annual December tournaments.

Speaking to Nampa on Thursday, Public Relations Officer of the Epukiro Sports Council, Kuveri Tjonga said that a total amount of N.dollars 35 000 is assigned to the football and netball. Football gets N.dollars 23 000 and the remaining N.dollars 12 000 is reserved for netball.

NBA finals: Golden State Warriors take 3-0 lead against Cleveland Cavaliers


The Golden State Warriors are on the brink of their third NBA championship in four years after winning 110-102 away to the Cleveland Cavaliers to take a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Kevin Durant, who top scored with 43 points, sealed the win with a three-pointer with 49.8 seconds remaining.

LeBron James led the home side with 33 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists.

Golden State will secure the title if they win game four on Friday night, again in Cleveland.

UNAM beat Kudus to extend lead at the top


The University of Namibia (UNAM) extended their lead at the top of the log by 17 points after beating Kudus 37-26 in the ninth round of the Rugby Premier League on Saturday.

The match was played at the Narraville Stadium in Walvis Bay.
The win away from home has put the university team in a cruising position with 45 points on the Premier League log standing.

UNAM scored four tries which were all converted. They also scored three penalties for their 37 points on the day. Their four tries gave them a bonus point.
