Windhoek to experience water disruption

The City of Windhoek has alerted residents about possible reduced water pressure and a change in water color from Friday at 17h00 until Monday at 06h00.

The City in a media release on Wednesday said the interruption of the normal water supply to Windhoek will be due to major repairs on the Von Bach Dam to ensure safe operations of the dam.

At the moment we do not foresee any possibility of a complete water cut-off, as we will be running an emergency borehole scheme during this period to supply the demand, internal communications officer, Scheifert Shigwedha said.

The City of Windhoek has assured the public that it will maintain its disinfection standards, which will guarantee that water is safe and fit for human consumption, despite the possible changes in color and texture.

The public is urged to use water sparingly and to report water challenges that may be experienced during the period to the Bulk Water and Waste Water helpline at (061) 290 2402/2162/3668.

Industries and businesses are also requested to consider adjusting their business operations to optimise water consumption.
