Namibian Kwaito star, David Shikalepo known as 'Exit', launched his sixth solo album titled 'Black is Boss' at Ongwediva last month.
In a media statement issued here on Friday, Exit's Rockaz stable stated that the album is meant to inspire hard work and confidence in Namibians.
“Anyone, whether male or female can relate to my music because through my lyrics, I try to use music as an empowerment tool to encourage, uplift and inspire people,” Shikalepo was quoted in the statement.
Shikalepo said he attempts to make people believe in their abilities to achieve their dreams, through the lyrics in his music.
“In my lyrics, I talk about various experience -the good, the challenging, the appreciation of real friendships, the unconditional love for family, lesson learned in life and all the dreams I am yet to realise,” he said.
The album is inspired by events that had transpired in the past; the hardship and good moments he went through.
“There is a lot happening in the country at the moment whether politically or socially. What I want through my music on this album is for us people to take a moment and concentrate on the positives,” the musician said.
'Black is Boss' is a 17-track album packed with musical tones from genres, such as Kwaito, Hip- Hop, Afro pop and Kizomba.
The album features several artists and producers such as Elvo, Araffath, DJ Kboz, Ras Sheehama, Neslow and KK.
'Black is Boss' comes on the heels of Exit's fifth album titled 'I am The Truth’, which was released last year.
Shikalepo first became known as one of the popular Kwaito duo, Exit & Mushe. At the 2015 Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMAs), Shikalepo won Best Kwaito award, while he scooped the Most Disciplined Artist of the Year award in 2014.
